Restauranteur Richard Caring’s second restaraunt after Scott’s, 34 Mayfair attracts the same crowd as Scott’s- people willing to spend but also people who enjoy delicious seafood in a upbeat yet cozy ambience. A restaraunt by Caring on Grosvernor Square couldn’t possibly be very light on the wallet but the overall experience almost always makes up for it. With a corridor-like interior, there is a bar on one end of the restaurant and the other end is led up by busy tables surrounded by bustling waiters serving a wide range of dishes from Chargrilled Octopus to Peppered Beef Fillets. Despite being a Steak and Fish grill, 34 offers seafood grills and red meats without being termed as a steakhouse in the strictest sense. The price range offers value of money given the large portions- especially in the main course. The appetizers aren’t too small either and can be quite filling. The food is prepared to perfection and the ambience is lively yet understated enough to have conversation. You can see the odd table occupied by people on business meetings, families enjoying a night out or friends who head over for an impromptu cocktail overlooking Tracy Emin’s signature quote.
